Dr. Ivy
Hometown:
Des Moines, Iowa
My Pet Family:
I have a kitty named Murphy, who we think is a Maine Coon/Tabby mix. He’s a bit shy at first, but loves cuddles and head-butts once he gets to know you!
When I’m Not at Cherished Companions, You’ll Find Me…
I love to spend time outdoors, especially running, hiking, and camping – when I’m not loving on all the pups and kitties at CCAC, you can find me doing one of those things! I also love to read and watch movies, and spend time with family and friends.
My Education:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Iowa State University.
BS in Elementary Education, Iowa State University.
Why I Became a Vet:
My mom will tell you she’s known I would work with animals since I was 2 years old. I’ve always been the one to bring home injured/lost animals, which led me to veterinary medicine. I love caring for animals and working with pet owners to keep their animal family members safe and healthy.
My Role at Cherished Companions:
I am one of the veterinarians at the clinic, providing wellness exams, diagnosing illnesses, and performing procedures such as dentals and surgeries.
Greatest Thing About Working with Animals:
The best thing about working with animals is the connection you make with the animal and their family. It’s wonderful to get to know an animal from the time they’re a puppy or kitten and continue to work with them into their senior years.
Favorite Compliment from a Customer:
There’s nothing better than getting a wet kiss from one of your patients you helped make feel better! That’s all the reward I need to remember what makes me love this profession and be excited to keep working hard!
