Jenny, Veterinary Technician

Where I Grew Up:

I have been a lot of places in my short life such as Kansas, Utah, and Texas.  However, I spent the greatest part of my life so far in Alaska, in a couple of small Native villages in the north and a tourist town in the southeast.  There, I competed in skiing and biathlon competitions, met some of the mushers racing in the Iditarod, and learned how to order literally everything on Amazon.

My Pet Family:

I have one dog and one cat right now.  My dog is named Yoda and she is a mix of a million different breeds—but I’m also convinced she is related to a pig somewhere along the line because she grunts a whole lot like one!  My cat’s name is Noodles, and he is a long-haired tuxedo cat. He likes to be a psychotic child at night and run around the house.  He’s also one the neediest felines I have ever met and loves to cuddle.

When I’m Not at Cherished Companions, You’ll Find Me:

Out walking my dog, rollerblading, or playing games.  I enjoy being outside and active when the weather isn’t too hot.

My Education:

I went to college at Colby Community College in Colby, KS for two years where I trained as a veterinary technician.

Career Choice:

When I was two, I told my mom I wanted to be a camel when I grew up.  When my mom informed me that I would grow up to be a young woman and not a camel, I decided that I would instead be a camel doctor.  Later I realized that there were a lot of other animals that would need my help. That lifelong love of animals inspired me to become a veterinary technician.

Role at Cherished Companions:

Veterinary Technician

The Greatest Thing About Working With Animals Is…

They are all cute in their own way and come in all different shapes and sizes!  It is also really rewarding to see how much good we do for our patients.
